Women often serve as the emotional glue - the connective tissue, if you like - that keeps nuclear and extended families and communities together.

A recent ONS survey found that 67% of women compared with 52% of men were taking charge of their children's education at home. One ONS survey found that women took on 78% more childcare than men during the first lockdown.

Why is it so hard for women to find the kind of help they need? Why is no-one listening to them? And why have so many lost faith in mental health care?

...about 20 per cent of autistic women are hospitalized for a psychiatric condition by age twenty five, a figure more than five times higher than for women without autism and more than twice that of autistic men.

A large UK study observed at peri-menopause a 30% increase in major depressive disorder and a 112% increase in bipolar disorder for women with no previous history of these disorders.
